Seaports

Ports all along east coast (NC, SC, VA, FL, MD) are easily accessible from the Lake Norman Area thanks to the access and convenience of road and rail travel options in the area.

North Carolina has two seaports, the Port of Wilmington and the Port of Morehead City, about 210 and 306 miles respectively from the Lake Norman region.  The other nearest seaports on the east coast include Charleston Harbor (221 miles away), Georgetown Harbor (278 miles away) and Port of Port Royal (248 miles away) in South Carolina; and Port of Richmond in Virginia.

Shipment of goods and products in and out of these ports is aided by the Charlotte Inland Terminal (CIT), which links the Lake Norman region to these two seaports.  There is also an inland terminal in Greensboro.
