Executive Director

Jerry W. Broadway, CEcD 

Native North Carolinian Jerry Broadway joined the LNREDC in July 2006, after serving for more than a decade with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, where his responsibilities included both domestic and international marketing.

Jerry holds a B.A. degree from Old Dominion University, and is a 1983 graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma. In 1996, he earned the prestigious Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) certification. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of the Southern Economic Development Council

Charity Barbee

A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a B.A. degree in journalism and mass communications, Charity has over 15 years of experience in the public and private sectors in management, marketing, public affairs, and fundraising. She is a graduate of UNC Charlotte’s Carolinas Leadership Program, Duke University’s Nonprofit Management Certification Program, and Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute.

Among her management experiences, Charity served as the executive director of a North Carolina nonprofit, oversaw a $3.5 million campaign and communications for another organization, and served in public affairs with a utility company handling internal and external communications.
