About

Lake Norman is the largest man-made lake in North Carolina, with a shoreline of 520 miles. At full pond, Lake Norman has a surface area of 32,510 acres. Duke Power created Lake Norman in 1963 by damming the Catawba River. The water of Lake Norman provides both electricity and water supply to the area. Its 520 miles of shoreline are more than both the North and South Carolina coastlines together. This beautiful setting along with the close proximity to the City of Charlotte and major Interstates 77, 85 and 40 offer a climate ripe with growth opportunities. The recent rapid population growth of the three north Mecklenburg towns of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson exemplify this point.

Locations on the lake, a variety of natural and rural settings and an abundance of parks make the region attractive to families. Mixed-use developments like Birkdale Village and The Village of Rosedale offer a variety of shopping and dining activities in Huntersville, numerous lakeside dining, recreation and residential opportunities can be found in Cornelius and the small town charm and college atmosphere of downtown Davidson regularly attract young families and singles alike and add to the vibrancy of the region.
